Fabric Passion Forum Share Your Project - Marg *PIC* Posted By: Dana Lacy Chapman Greetings!
Here is a quilt that has very special meaning. Marg sent this to us, and she explained:
“My very close friends (John and Deb) had been seeing my quilting work for quite some time and on one of their visits to our home last Christmas she asked if I would consider making them a quilt for their bed as they were looking to revamp their bedroom..
”Except for the batting and backing fabric all my fabrics were purchased from eQuilter, although due to my slip up the Bali pops used came via Austria!!!! instead of straight to Australia, so already my quilt had an international flavour.
”I had fun putting the colours together and although the quilt itself was not involved the finished result I think is striking and my friends just loved it. The finished size is 110in x 115in with an additional pillow over flap of 40in.
”I was lucky enough to have the use of a friend’s quilting machine and quilted it in an overall large stipple with a variegated thread which highlighted the beautiful colours in the quilt. The border was also quilted in a variegated thread which highlighted the sandy tones in the fabric.
"I managed to finished the quilt for them on a recent visit and they were extremely pleased with the end result.
(”Deb has told me that the quilt now will be treasured even more since John (who was diagnosed with Melanoma and only given several months to live) died unexpectantly on the 17th of July and has left us all heart broken.)
“Thankyou for giving me the opportunity to show the quilt.
Marg
Thank you, Marg, for sharing the quilt and its story. Quilts do bring such comfort, and the lovely design you made with the Bali Pops is uplifting. We are sincerely sorry for your loss, and hope Deb can continue to enjoy the quilt as part of her healing.
Stitching Smiles!
