Fabric Passion Forum Share Your Project - Sandy *LINK* *PIC* Posted By: Dana Lacy Chapman Greetings!
We have another amazing quilt from Sandy!
She explains, “I am sending you (photos) of my first attempt at a crazy quilt. Because of severe arthritis in my fingers I can't do a lot of the fancy embroidery stitches so I added beautiful pieces of ribbon, crystals, charms, lace, braid, buttons and whatever else I could find to highlight the seams.
The theme of the quilt was my Granddaughter's life from ages 0 to 18 years of age. Each piece of fabric represents something that she did or something that happened to her that was special.
I printed her photo or a painting that I did of her onto fabric for each year. It took 4 1/2 months to complete the quilt. The quilting story is 20 pages long because I explained the reason I used each piece of fabric. It was like watching her grow up all over again. To see her and her Mother's surprise at what I had done was worth it (all).
(This, and the daffodil quilt are two of) the most unusual challenges I've done in quilting so far.
Sandy
Thank you, again, Sandy for sharing this challenge well met! What a clever solution to the embellishments these quilts feature. I am working on a crazy quilt for Halloween (2014 at this rate), and they are fun!
