|Every Day is a Gift
Yesterday we heard the news about the shooting in Aurora, as we were boarding a plane to visit Paul's family in Hawaii.
(our annual visit).
Then we found out we had a family member in hospital in Honolulu.
It is just a reminder that every day is a gift, and it's important to focus on what is really of value in life.
I've received emails from all over the world in the last 24 hours, from friends and customers asking if we are all ok, and expressing their sadness about this event.
Thank you for those messages.
As far as we know, nobody in the eQuilter family was affected by this event.
However there are families in our community who have lost someone, or who have someone in hospital.
Very sad, and impossible to comprehend.
When I left the garment industry and came into the quilting industry, it was because I was tired of the corporate mindset, and I really wanted to be in a family-run business with human values.
When you run a business based on being a human being, rather than squeezing every penny out of the situation, I really believe it helps to make the world a better place.
We know that our customers prefer to support their local quilt shops and other independently-owned family businesses.
We thank you for this, and especially for your helping us to reach the goal of raising $1 million for charity....and counting!
If you are making a
Quilt for Peace, a Quilt for Love, or a Quilt for Healing, and some or all of it is made from eQuilter fabrics, we invite you to
post your quilts on our eQuilter Facebook page!
I feel like when I get home, I need to make a
Quilt for Peace and then give it to someone who has lost a loved one or their home.
My heart is breaking, but I know that making a quilt will help me to process my emotions and channel it into something constructive.
If you are going to the Long Beach Quilt Festival next Friday, perhaps we will see you there! I am visiting my brother in California on the way home, and I'll be at the festival with the kids for one day.
If you see me there, please come over and say hello!
sharing your Passion for Fabric...
Luana and Paul
