Judy and Brad Niemeyer designed the Barbed Rail Fence for foundation paper piecing. A collection of red, white and black batiks designed by Island Batik were used to make the quilt shown on the cover. The pattern includes enough foundation papers to complete the quilt. Fabric requirements include: 5 1/3 yds of 4 different black tone on tone batiks; 1 yd of black batik for railing & border; 5 1/3 yds of 4 different red tone on tone batiks; 1 yd of red batik for railing & border; 2 yds of 6 different black/white batiks; 1 yd of black/white batik for piecing and inner border; 1 yd for binding; 5 yds for backing; 1 1/2 yds x 90" of batting.
